Korean Soups and Stews

Our Bellevue Korean restaurant’s soups and stews are popular year round, but with colder seasons approaching, now is a perfect time to try one of these Korean classics. The names of Korean soups typically end with –guk or –t’ang, and for stews, –jjigae or –jim. Seafood, meat, and veggies are common ingredients, although other types, such as kimchi soup, are also popular. Many recipes also incorporate rice to the dish, making Korean soups and stews more substantial and filling than one might think.

Compared to stews, Korean soups have more broth and are boiled with their contents to achieve the right flavor. Stews have more meat and veggies, and the broth tends to be saltier than in soups. The contents may be cooked separately in stews, but the broth usually cooks with seasonings for a full, robust taste.
