Traditional Korean Bap

Try a Korean bap dish at our Bellevue Korean restaurant, where classics are given a unique touch. Bap–meaning “grain” in Korean–are dishes made from rice, barley, and beans. Some popular bap plates include bibimbap, bokkeumbap, and gimbap. These are characterised by their rice base and typically incorporate vegetables and meat also.

Depending on the type of grain used, the name of the plate may also change. For example, white rice and barley are referred to as boribap while white rice and millet are called jobap. Traditionally, the name of bap dishes would also depend on the person being served. A bap dish served to the elderly is called jinji and, in ceremonial contexts, me is served to the deceased.
