What is “Korean Pizza?”

At the Seoul Hot Pot Korean Restaurant in Bellevue, you might come across a curious, pancake-like dish. This is what the Koreans call a “pa-jeon”, sometimes referred to as “Korean pizza”. Pa-jeon is a popular street food, snack, or side dish throughout Korea, representing something that is both simple to make and savory to eat. The “jeon”-style pancake is commonly eaten during the rainy season, or enjoyed as an appetizer to sop up the extra sauce of a larger meal.

At Seoul Hot Pot, you can try two different classic varieties of pa-jeon. There’s our “hae-mool” (seafood) pa-jeon, which contains real prawns, squid, and green onions baked into the dough, or there’s our kimchi pa-jeon, cooked with kimchi and pork.
